Join us on Wednesday, February 22 at 5pm for a Making Waves presentation and book signing by David Neiwert, an award-winning freelance journalist and blogger whose recent work "Of Orcas and Men" has been described as a marvelously compelling mix of cultural history, environmental reporting, and scientific research on orcas.
In the book, David explores the relationship of killer whales with humans -- beginning with their role in myth and contemporary popular culture, showing how the species came to capture the imagination of the public, and examining the environmental consequences of that appeal. David has a great appreciation and love for killer whales arising from various personal encounters with this species throughout his life.
The presentation and book signing takes place at Pacific Whale Foundation's Discovery Center, located on the lower level of the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops, adjacent to Maui Ocean Center. Call (808) 249-8811 ext. 1 for more information.
In 2016, David Neiwert was a panelist in our Digital Chat with the Experts about marine mammals in captivity. Watch it here!
